The Learning Resource Center is dedicated to Emily Ivanoff Brown (1904 - 1982). Mrs. Brown, whose Eskimo name was Ticasuk, was born in Unalakleet. She became distinguished and well known for her life long quest for learning, her efforts to learn about her own Eskimo heritage and her desire to record and pass on a knowledge and appreciation for the unwritten history of all her people.
